As part of Amador Water Agency’s commitment to provide safe drinking water to all our customers, we comply with all regulations of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Act. Due to recent revisions to the Lead and Copper Rule, AWA is required to create a mapped inventory of water service line materials throughout the service area and make it publicly available by the rule compliance date of October 2024. The objective of the water service line inventory is to determine if there are any lead pipes in the water distribution system.
- AWA has records of the Agency-owned service lines. However, we have little information about the customer-owned portions. The Agency has therefore selected thousands of service lines throughout the service area to inspect.
- AWA will focus on inspecting service lines installed prior to 1986, when federal law banned the use of any material that is not “lead free” in public water systems.
- This inventory is required by the federal government, and AWA asks for your cooperation if Agency employees need access to your property. Agency employees will be in uniform and have Agency identification.
